and thanks for your interest in Equality!
Napa Valley Equality Coalition believes that Napa Valley:
| • |
Seeks to be a safe, healthy and tolerant place for all citizens and their families; |
|
•
|
Strives to be a community that offers equal opportunity, free from hate and all forms of discrimination; |
| • |
Recognizes and appreciates the significant contributions of its many LGBT citizens; and |
|
•
|
Believes that all people, regardless of gender, should be able to enter into the legal contract of marriage and receive the same social and legal benefits, responsibilities and recognition as conferred by the State of California.

Background
At the request of members of our coalition, City Councilman Mark van Gorder presented the EQUALITY OF ALL FAMILIES Resolution (click here for text of the resolution) to Napa City Council on 3/7/09. In a public meeting attended by more than 50 supporters of the resolution and after almost two hours of public comment - all in favor of the resolution – City Council members let the motion die without a second. (Click here to link to video of the City Council Meeting. Hear the passionate and heartfelt public comments, and Coucilmembers’ comments about the resolution.
News of Napa’s City Council’s actions have been widely reported, causing many people who support equality to cancel plans to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of the country’s premier wine producing region. NVEC seeks to represent the true spirit of Napa Valley as a place that supports EQUALITY for all people, including marriage equality for same-sex people.
In the coming days, hundreds of businesses that support full equality will be listed on this site and will join NVEC in urging Napa’s City Council to pass the Equality for All Families Resolution. Please stay tuned for further updates.
